Quilt – Star Spangled Stars

In honour of Mother’s Day this past weekend, I figured I would share the quilt I made for my mother-in-law down in Texas!

Monkey bars are a such a great way to hold quilts for photos.

Pattern: Sawtooth Star tutorial by Honey Bear Lane

Note to self: a bright red backing on a mostly white quilt was probably a very bad idea.

For such a simple quilt, this one took me FOREVER to finish.  That’s the downside of using tutorials instead of patterns – no fabric or cutting requirements means a lot of guesswork for supplies.  Regardless of how long it took, I managed to finish it… and I’m quite proud of how it turned out!

IMG_2222My mother-in-law is the one who inspired me to decorate my house for each season, using festive decor to add pops of colour.  I’ve slowly been collecting fabric for each holiday, and creating things like quilts, table runners, and maybe even wall hangings.  Now I just need a house to decorate, and I’ll be all set!!
