I confess: I have a very strange love/hate relationship with Halloween. The pressure to dress up in the “right” costume is a little too much; I get very uncomfortable not knowing who people are in costume.. and don’t even get me started on horror movies!
BUT I really do love the decor. Lime green, orange, purple, black, glitter? Sign me up! Cutesy monsters, little witches.. what’s not to love?! And this Halloween quilt is definitely CUTE.
Fabric: Halloween Parade (Doodlebug Designs for Riley Blake)
Pattern: Disappearing 9-Patch
Started: Summer 2018; Finished: Summer 2018
Note to future self: next time I see a fabric collection that I just “have to have”… buy a fat quarter bundle!! I bought a single charm pack of this material, and had to hunt down some more on Etsy once I finally figured out what I was going to use it for! It’s not big enough to snuggle up with, but it works well as a lap quilt on the couch.
I love the whimsy of the disappearing 9-patch pattern, and how it works so well for busy patterned fabrics. It also comes together super quick, which makes it perfect for gift quilts. I tackled this project as part of my goal to finish 5 quilts by the end of 2018, which was also a goal to use up some of my fabric stash. Mission accomplished!
This quilt brings me one step closer to my goal of outfitting my (future, dream) house in all basic gray/white/black.. and then adding colour by decorating for each holiday/season! Something tells me I’m going to need a lot of storage space in this future dream house..
